THE ROUTE
The M2M is not a road trip. It's a bikepacking journey through gravel tracks, technical singletrack and ancient mountain paths. You'll carry your bike on your shoulders where the trail demands it, and ride stretches of pure flow where it rewards you. Every surface, every climb, every descent earns its place in the route. The route also follows the ancient Ru — irrigation channels carved over centuries to bring glacial water down to the cultivated lands of the valley floor — historic pathways that today offer some of the most scenic and evocative stretches of the entire journey. Starting in Breuil-Cervinia beneath the unmistakable silhouette of the Matterhorn, the route winds west through the heart of the Aosta Valley, finishing in Courmayeur with Mont Blanc filling the sky above the town.

What Makes It Different
Widely regarded as one of the most spectacular multi-day gravel routes in the Alps, the M2M connects two of the world's most iconic peaks through the unspoiled heart of the Aosta Valley — entirely on Italian soil.
No transfer days, no shuttles between countries — just a continuous, coherent journey from one legendary peak to the next.
Bikepacking, not a supported tour. You carry your own kit — but at the end of every day, a mountain refuge or alpine hotel is waiting, with a good Italian hot meal and a bed that's been earned.
The Experience
Nights in mountain refuges, family-run B&Bs and alpine hotels. Mornings that start with fresh bread and strong coffee before the day's first climb. Evenings that end with Aosta Valley cuisine — fontina, carbonade, polenta concia — and local wines from one of Italy's smallest and most extraordinary wine regions, home to some of Europe's highest vineyards, where heroic winemaking has thrived for centuries against all alpine odds.
This is bikepacking the way it should be: challenging enough to earn every view, comfortable enough to actually enjoy them.
Mountain Refuges & Stays

Authentic mountain refuges, family B&Bs and alpine hotels — each night a reward in itself, with local character and Italian warmth.

Aosta Valley Cuisine
Fuel up on Fontina, Carbonade and Polenta concia, paired with wines from Europe's highest vineyards — a culinary tradition as rugged and rewarding as the terrain itself.
From dawn's first climb to the final descent into Courmayeur, every hour on the bike is purposeful — technical where it challenges, flowing where it rewards.
Riding Pure Flow

WHY GRAVEL
The M2M is built on gravel. Not because it's trendy, but because gravel is the only way to truly explore these mountains. It's the freedom to choose your own path, the comfort to ride all day, and the adventure that comes from not knowing exactly what's around the next corner. On the M2M, it's about the experience — the views, the culture, the people you meet. Gravel riding is about the journey, not the time.
The Idea
M2M was born from years of experience guiding cyclists through the Aosta Valley — riders from every corner of the world, exploring these mountains by bike. Watching their faces light up in front of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc, a simple yet ambitious idea took shape: to connect the two most iconic peaks of the Alps in a single route, entirely on Italian soil, through the heart of the Aosta Valley. One route, one soul: to set off from the Matterhorn and arrive at Mont Blanc, earning every single meter along the way.
Getting Here
The ride is accessible from three international airports — Milan Malpensa, Turin, and Geneva — all within comfortable transfer distance of Breuil-Cervinia. Private transfers can be arranged on request, both to the start line in Breuil-Cervinia and back from Courmayeur at the end of the journey, so you can focus on the ride and leave the logistics to me.

Is This Ride for You?
The M2M is designed for riders who are comfortable on technical singletrack and have a solid base fitness. Daily stages average 50–75 kilometers with up to 2,000 meters of climbing — demanding but manageable for a well-prepared cyclist. For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, the itinerary can be extended over additional days, spreading the effort without losing any of the experience. The technical level, duration and accommodation are all adapted to the group — because the goal is for everyone to arrive in Courmayeur with a smile on their face.
What to Bring
The M2M is a bikepacking route — you carry your own kit on the bike for the entire journey. Accommodation and meals are taken care of each night, at mountain refuges, family B&Bs and alpine hotels. What you pack is yours to manage: clothing, tools, spares and anything you need during the day on the trail. A full kit list is provided after booking to help you get your setup right without overloading the bike.
